Same five-step based adult addiction treatment program with the following differences and considerations:
⁃ Families are involved in the entire process. Most kids/adolescents who enter treatment do so through adult recommendation, i.e. parents/teachers/paediatrician/specialists. Because their brains are still developing, their conditions are typically much different to those of adults who have already experienced their developmental stages and/or personal and professional growth. Adolescents require an addiction treatment program focusing on things like academics, family support, and all areas of life that are continuing to mature.
⁃ Age separation pre-sheet compilation (ages 4-10 or 11-18) prior to first patient interview including their pregnancy & delivery description, relevant disease/s in the first 2-3 years of life, parents’ medical history & relevant parameters, etc.
⁃ Academic progress follow-up included throughout treatment.
